'Black women will never be as beautiful as white women': Ugandan model is targeted by racist trolls after a photo of her lips is posted on Instagram

This story comes from the Daily Mail and is written by Emily Hodgkin

I chose this story because my friend is a model, who has modelled at LFW and the title of story not only shocked me, but saddened me.

The backstage photo, above, was taken during New York Fashion Week and posted to the brand's social media. One likened the 23-year-old model's pout to 'fish lips'. Another wrote: 'Black women will never be as beautiful as white women'

This is the image in question, published by cosmetic company MAC on their Instagram page. Instantly the image started getting hate referring to model, Aamito Lagum, lips as 'fish lips' with some commentors going on to say how 'Black women will never be as beautiful as white women' and saying that now white women can get fillers to make their lips look more full like, Lagum's which makes them 'basically flawless'.

This story worries me that still in 2016 society is still so obsessed with how people look and can seem to grasp that everyone looks different so comparison between two people is pointless as there are no neutral grounds which the 2 can be compared on. Although many have since commented praising Aamito for her beauty, and Aamito has responded by to the hate by continuing to be a successful model, it highlights the question of how far have we really come, when incidence of prejudice such as this are still common.

I think you wrote effective opinions in response to the article.
To improve could you have given a little more content to the article, which could suggest more of the situation in which the quoted headline came from.
