Girl, 14, is electrocuted after using an extension lead to charge her phone while she was in the bath

This story comes from the Daily Mail, and is written by Amie Gordon and the story took place with a family in Russia.

The 14-year-old girl was electrocuted when her phone charger fell in the bath. The teenager from Russia has not yet been named and an investigation into her death is underway

I chose this story as I thought it was an interesting example of the influence our technology has over us. The young girl was so involved/obsessed with using her mobile device that she goes to the extent of risking, and then losing her life, just so that she does not miss out on a game or any social media.

The young girl in question, who has not been named plugged her phone charger into an extension lead so that she could use the phone in the bath, and was found by her mother some time later so badly electrocuted that her skin had started to burn.

This story also raises the question about children's education of safety around electricity because I can remember that when I was 14 I had already had a least opportunities and experiences to learn about safety around electricity, from which I was very clearly told of the dangers surrounding technology around water. If that sort of education was provided all across the modern world then tragic, unnecessary deaths such as this girls may be avoided.
